Non-Profit Steps Up to Fill Killer-Asteroid Monitoring Gap
The B612 Foundation aims to build and launch a space telescope dedicated to searching for killer asteroids. The project will be the first privately funded deep space mission and greatly expand the catalog of known near-Earth objects. The foundation estimates it will cost several hundred million to build the telescope and hopes to be ready to go by 2017 or ?18.
