An Introduction to Fast Ethernet

The following article aims to provide an introduction to the concept of Fast Ethernet, what it is, a summary of how it works, and who can benefit from its implementation. The basic definition of Fast Ethernet is just that, fairly basic, in that it simply refers to Ethernet cables/connections which carry data at a rate faster than the original Ethernet speeds. This original Ethernet typically carried data at speeds of 10Mbit/s (10,000,000 bits per second) whereas services that are described as Fast Ethernet can reach speeds of 100Mbit/s.
